Trophy Catch size bass make their way to scales in recent events

Land O’ Lakes, FL- The Xtreme Bass Series is now full steam ahead for the 2020 season. The month of February will be running on all cylinders as all divisions get going.

The Lochloosa Divison got rolling at the end of January with 28 teams hitting the water. The bite proved tough for the field, as only 9 teams brought a 5 bass limit to the scales. Jody Marriott and Chris Keith were not one of those teams. That wouldn’t matter though as their 3 bass bag proved to be heavy enough to take the win. Their 16.06 pound bag was anchored by the event’s big bass, a 10.09 pound Trophy Catch, earning the team a $1,290.00 payday. Freddy and Brett Pearson took the runner up slot and earned $550.00 on a 13.33 pound, 5 bass limit. Dale Kendrick and Tom Morgan locked up a top 3 finish with a 10.51 pound, 5 bass limit and earned $340.00 for their efforts.

The Citrus County Division took to Lake Panasoffkee for their second event of the season on February 1st. 23 teams lined up at Tracey’s Point, hoping to put some extra cash in their pockets and get earn some valuable points towards the Team of the Year race. Dennis and Lake Hart bested a strong field of anglers, weighing a 20.83 pound, 5 bass limit. That bag earned the team $900.00. Second place went to the team of George Kapitan and Jason Counsil. The duo earned $460.00 on the heels of a 19.62 pound limit. Eddie Englehart and Greg Hughes rounded out the top 3 with 18.70 pounds, taking home $240.00. Don Schafer and Terry Chupman landed an 8.80 pound Trophy Catch to earn the event’s big bass award and $220.00.

Rodney Glunt and John Armour got the better of a 9 boat field at the Garcia Divison’s second event. The duo weighed an 18.92 pound, 5 bass limit and took over the early points lead in the Team of the Year race. Donnie Ewers and Danny Bono inked a second place finish with a 15.60 pound bag. They anchored their limit with a 4.90 pound kicker that earned big bass honors for the event. They were followed by Michael Akers and Michael Wiley in third place with 12.10 pounds.

Buck and Steve Albritton

The St. Johns/Rodman Division saw a 28 boat field at the Palatka City Docks for their second event of the season. Buck and Steve Albritton bested the field with a 20.71 pound, 5 bass limit. They narrowly edged out the runner up team of Clayton and Justin Woods. The duo brought a 5 bass limit to the scales weighing an even 20.00 pounds. That bag was anchored by the day’s Big Bass, a 10.49 pound Trophy Catch. Casey Geiger and Andy Reigor locked in a third place finish with 16.83 pounds.

The John’s Lake Division held their first event of the season on February 2nd. 13 teams showed up for the divison’s kick off event. The field was topped by the team of Tim Dean and Ron Lemons. Their 19.91 pound bag earned them the victory and a $600.00 payday. Adam Eddington and Don Fisher earned a second place finish and $220.00 thanks to their 18.52 pound, 5 bass limit. Neil Davis and Brent Stagg weighed an 18.23 pound, 5 bass limit to lock in a third place finish. Their bag was anchored by the event’s big bass, a 6.30 pound kicker and helped in earning the team $240.00.

The Xtreme Bass Series 2020 championship will be held on Lake Kissimmee. Hosted by Camp Mack, a Guy Harvey Lodge, Marina, and RV Resort, qualifying anglers will have the opportunity to compete for a new Blazer 595 Pro Elite powered by a 200 HP Mercury Pro XS valued at $40,000.00.
